The Faculty of Engineering (FE), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), organized the Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series on August 2, 2026, at the AIUB Auditorium. The lecture series was arranged in recognition of the pioneering efforts and benevolence of Dr. Anwarul Abedin, Founder Chairman of AIUB, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for providing world-class education and contributing to the advancement of higher education in Bangladesh.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
The first session, titled “Research and Teaching in Energy Sustainability and Industrial Transformation,” was conducted by Prof. Dr. GM Shafiullah, School of Engineering and Energy, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. During his presentation, he discussed contemporary research and teaching approaches in energy sustainability, along with the growing importance of sustainable technologies in facilitating industrial transformation.
The second session, titled “Machine Learning and Its Translation in Agriculture, Health, and Environment Research,” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ferdous Sohel, School of Information Technology, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. His presentation highlighted the potential of machine learning and its translation into practical research applications across agriculture, healthcare, and environmental domains.
As a gesture of gratitude and recognition, tokens of appreciation were presented to the distinguished resource persons by Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Gp Capt (Retd) Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar, AIUB; and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jashim Uddin, Convener, Research and Publications, AIUB.
The lecture series provided an engaging platform for academic and research-oriented discussions and strengthened opportunities for knowledge exchange with distinguished international academics.
